Topeka · Field elevation 1,078 ft · 2 runways · Southeast Flow and Northwest Flow
Topeka Regional is Forbes Field, a former Air Force base now shared by civil operators, the Kansas Air National Guard and the Kansas Army National Guard. Its 12,803-foot 13/31 primary is the longest runway in the Kansas City Center brick outside the major hubs, crossed by the 7,002-foot 3/21.
You work Forbes Tower with approach and departure service provided directly by Kansas City Center. Reach KC-135 tankers from the 190th Air Refueling Wing define the radio, mixed with transient military traffic, N-number GA, and a thin NetJets and Flexjet corporate stream. Southeast flow works 13 and 21; northwest flow mirrors it on 31 and 3. The current cycle publishes six approaches but no arrivals or departure procedures, so every IFR departure leaves on a heading you assign.
This is the Busy tier without an airline bank: heavy wake, long military pavement and tanker training laid over a modest civil operation.
