Rosecrans Memorial (KSTJ)

Rosecrans Memorial sits in the Missouri River bottoms at St. Joseph, a municipal airport and the home field of the Missouri Air National Guard's 139th Airlift Wing. Its eight-thousand-foot 17/35 is the heavy-capable primary; the shorter 13/31 crosses its south end and includes the Guard's assault-landing strip panels.

You work St. Joseph Approach. There is no scheduled airline service: the board is N-number general aviation, fractional business jets, and Reach C-130 Hercules traffic from the 180th Airlift Squadron and the Advanced Airlift Tactics Training Center. South flow leads with runway 17 and uses 13 for crosswind arrivals; north flow mirrors that on 35 and 31. The current cycle publishes three arrivals, six departure procedures and six approaches, so military and IFR traffic can carry real Kansas City procedure structure while VFR and pattern traffic work underneath.

This is the Busy tier in an unusual form: a municipal GA field that can turn into a tactical-airlift training base without warning, with a narrow crosswind strip, intersecting pavement and the Missouri River along the edge of the scope.
