Detroit · Field elevation 645 ft · 6 runways · North Flow and South Flow
Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County has six surveyed runways. The 12,003-foot 04R/22L anchors four north-south parallels, with two crosswind pairs to the east-west axis.
The airport authority's operating study describes north and south flow for most operations, with outboard parallel arrivals and inboard departures; crosswind configurations are uncommon. The game models the main reciprocal flows with Delta's domestic and international hub traffic. We choose airline weights and cadence for gameplay, not a published timetable.
This is the Heavy tier: parallel arrival streams and inboard departures on a Delta bank. Published procedures and Class B airspace are present. Crosswind runways are drawn but outside normal flows; the FAA record says the west 1,713 feet of 09R/27L are closed indefinitely, a restriction the game does not model dynamically. Terrain, MVA/MSAW and live closures are not modeled.
