Gardner · Field elevation 1,087 ft · 2 runways · South Flow and North Flow
New Century AirCenter is the old Olathe Naval Air Station, and its bones show: two long runways crossing mid-field in the classic naval X, the primary at seventy-three-hundred feet. It works the southwest corner of the Kansas City metro as a reliever, training field and bizjet strip in one.
You work New Century Tower under the Kansas City TRACON, on the same approach sector as neighbouring Johnson County Executive. Training and transient general aviation dominate, with fractional bizjets on the metro's satellite STARs using the long 18/36 and the crosswind 4/22 taking overflow. South flow leads on the 18, north flow on the 36, and the crossing geometry means a roll on one runway protects the other, the small-tower judgement call this field runs on.
This is the Steady tier with crossing-runway teeth: a light board where the intersection does the thinking. The middle seat of the Kansas City trio.
