Portland International (KPDX)

Portland International sits hard against the Columbia River, with two long east-west parallels and a shorter crossing strip. The Willamette joins the Columbia west of the field, so both river courses stay visible while the arrival streams turn toward the airport.

PDX runs west flow most often, landing and departing 28L and 28R; east flow reverses the same parallel pair onto 10L and 10R. Alaska and Horizon set the voice of the board, with Southwest, Delta, United and American filling out the airline bank and UPS and FedEx adding cargo. Five published arrivals, five usable departures and eleven approaches give most IFR traffic a real procedure, while runway 3/21 remains outside the normal published flow.

This is the Busy tier: two active parallels, a strong Alaska bank and river-defined corners without the full scale of a Heavy hub. The Cascades and Columbia Gorge shape real Portland vectoring, but terrain, MVAs and MSAW are not modeled here.
