New Orleans · Field elevation 3 ft · 2 runways · East Flow and West Flow
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International sits beside the Mississippi River at a published field elevation of three feet. Its east-west 11/29 is 10,104 feet; the crossing 02/20 is drawn at its surveyed 7,002-foot length.
The airport announced that 02/20 is closed for rehabilitation from March through a planned December 2026 completion, with all arrivals and departures using 11/29 during the work. The game models reciprocal 11 and 29 flows on that single active strip. Southwest, Delta, American and United lead the modeled mix, joined by other domestic carriers and cargo. The weights and traffic cadence are gameplay choices, not an airport schedule.
This is the Heavy tier: one active runway demands runway occupancy and arrival-departure timing in a Class B radar room. Published approaches and airspace shelves are present; the CIFP pipeline emits no supported SID, so IFR departures receive radar vectors. The game does not update live NOTAM closures, model the planned reopening of 02/20, or model terrain and minimum vectoring altitudes.
